Durham is a very rural county and Teesdale in particular is predominantly an agricultural area. This means we are spoilt with excellent local produce and suppliers on our doorstep and we take full advantage of this. For the customer it means fresher ingredients, less miles travelled, traceability and supporting the rural economy.

We do not choose our suppliers and the ingredients we use on price alone. It is important that the quality is right and the processes of production, something that is often referred to as provenance. High standards of animal welfare in agriculture is something that we take very seriously and this influences what we offer and where we buy from.

You will certainly be able to find cheaper places to eat where lower cost ingredients are sourced. That is not what we are about.
