The cyclists line up outside the Rose and Crown after a well earned overnight rest...
The Great Inns of Britain, of which the Rose & Crown is a member, have held a charity cycle ride covering 325km. The route began at the Inn at Whitewell near Clitheroe with the first nights rest at the Boar's Head at Ripley Castle. The riders then headed north through the Yorkshire dales for the next stop over at the Rose & Crown. Day three's route headed east to finish at the seaside town of Whitby. A number of owners of Great Inns took part including Simon Heaton of Shibden Mill Inn, Ed Henbury of the White Horse & Griffin, Tom Coke (Earl of Leicester) of the Victoria at Holkham, James and Amillia Braxton of the Lamb Inn and Thomas Robinson of the Rose & Crown. Funds raised were in excess of £1500 for St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds. If you would like to do your own 'Great Inns Cycle Tour' then please get in touch for the route!
